Learning Lab Goal:
The goal of the Racial & Health Equity Learning Lab is to build skills of the participants to identify systemic barriers and social inequities and increase technical knowledge to apply these principles to programs reducing the impact of these inequities. Participation in the Learning Lab will increase technical knowledge of health equity and racial justice of leaders across the state. By the end of the learning lab, members of the cohort will develop, in teams, a proposed project to address an inequity in their community. Teams will present the proposed projects during a forum for an opportunity to have their project funded. Selected teams will implement these projects for the duration of the cohort. 

Learning Objectives: 

The Learning Lab will feature the ADJUST (Advancing Justice Together) training curriculum by the Michigan Public Health Institute. The objectives of ADJUST include: 

  • Build a shared vocabulary to advance meaningful dialogue about oppression 

  • Apply equity concepts to real-life scenarios

  • Explore the meaning and impact of cultural/social identity across groups

  • Understand the necessity and value of addressing racism and other forms of oppression to reduce health inequities

  • Identify opportunities to advance equity in our work and personal life
